You can see or talk to the pharmacists with or without appointment. We can collect your prescriptions on your behalf from any surgery in PO7 & PO8 area and prepare your medication ready for you to pick up at your convenient time (this could be early morning, during the day or in the evening and late night). We are open 24 Hours on Mon-Wed, and up to 8 pm on Thursday and Friday.
If you are house-bound, we can arrange to deliver to your home in selected areas.
Please note, we make arrangement with all local surgeries to dispense repeat prescriptions to patients.
If you are managing a long-term condition or illness you can save time and save your multiple trips to the surgery. Take advantage of this free collection and delivery service. You must first register with us and we will arrange the rest for your prescriptions. You receive your medicines direct from our pharmacists, at your convenient or agreed time.
All medicines are dispensed in child resistant containers unless you ask us not to. Please remember: keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children. Our pharmacist can advise you on safe storage of medicines.

At Cowplain Pharmacy our pharmacist is fully trained and we are specialists in the provision of the seasonal flu vaccine.
There is no need for an appointment, though you can make one with us if you wish. All vaccinations are given in our private consultation room by our trained pharmacist, who will be able to advise on the possible side-effects of a seasonal flu vaccine, why it is important to protect against flu and how you protect yourself in other ways.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to know more or would like to book an appointment. You can simply walk into the pharmacy and ask to have a flu vaccine, there may be a few minutes wait at busy times.
Our Flu Vaccination Service is not suitable for people under 16 years old. You may also not be able to have a flu vaccination if:
• You feel unwell, have a high temperature or an infection
• You are allergic to either eggs or chicken
• You have had an allergic reaction to a previous jab
• You have any other allergies
• If you are suitable you will be given the vaccination, which includes protection against viruses responsible for causing most cases of flu including the H1N1 virus (swine flu).
Cowplain Pharmacy keeps computerized Patient Medication Record (PMR) to provide a tracking history for each patient including all your prescriptions dispensed by us. This helps us check for possible problems, such as reactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have. The computerised system ensures that your current and future medicines and advice are given with utmost safety and accuracy of the big picture. Please not that access to information is strictly guided by the Data Protection Act, the NHS code of practice on confidentiality and the information is held within the pharmacy only. Keeping the record is important for all health needs especially your self-care medication and advice. If you want to discuss the records we keep, please ask to speak to the pharmacist.
Ask our pharmacist for a free personalised review and advice about any medicines you are using. This review will be conducted in private consultation room and will be completely confidential. This attention from the pharmacist is invaluable in identifying the effects of drug interactions and any adverse reactions during and after the use of the drugs even when you have not been to see your doctor.

When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect.
The pharmacist will talk to you approximately two weeks after you first receive the medicine to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have. A second follow-up will be a month after you first receive the medicine. The service is only available to people using certain medicines; our pharmacist will give you details and offer this free NHS service, if this is available to you.
Under certain circumstances (set out in the Medicines Act) If you need one of your regular medicines in an emergency when you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to make an emergency supply of a prescription only medicine. We must stress that this can only be done in genuine emergencies. We DO NOT charge for this service if you are registered with any of the local GP practices.
